What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from August 2026. ERO gave the school its highest rating, Excelling, for student achievement, progress, foundational literacy and numeracy, and equity.
Almost all senior students gain NCEA qualifications, University Entrance and the NCEA literacy and numeracy requirements, results have held steady over time, and Scholarship results have improved.
ERO rated leadership, teaching, curriculum, attendance, engagement, support for students with additional needs and governance as Doing well, describing calm, respectful classrooms and effective pastoral care. Most students meet the government’s regular attendance target, although chronic absence is highest in Year 10, and junior reading and literacy progress are still areas to lift.
Assessment was the one area ERO rated as Working towards, because practice is not yet consistent across the school. ERO’s next steps are a fuller self-review programme to judge how well programmes and initiatives are working, a consistent schoolwide way of collecting and using achievement and wellbeing information, and stronger middle leadership to lead the new curriculum.
ERO also noted that formal individual planning for students with additional needs was limited, and said it is confident the school can make these improvements.

Enrolling
Waikato Diocesan has no home zone. As a state-integrated Anglican school, its site says it offers places to preference applicants first, in a set order that starts with baptised Anglican families active in a parish and also covers sisters of past and current students, daughters and granddaughters of former students, and families active in other Christian churches. Non-preference places are offered only if places remain.
Families apply online, and some applicants are invited to an interview before a place is offered. The school does not keep a waiting list, and it publishes its application process and closing dates on its Application Process page each year. Boarding and international students have their own pages.
